Illunion Hotel, Fuengirola

Date of Visit : April 2021

We recently stayed at the 4* Illunion Hotel in Fuengirola just for a quick break, as we were still in municipality lockdown due to the dreaded Covid and couldn’t wander very far!

We really enjoyed our time at the hotel, and it is fantastically situated in the area known as Los Boliches in Fuengirola. The immediate area surrounding the property includes numerous shops, bars, restaurants, the train station, and directly opposite is the fabulous stretch of beach boasting numerous chiringuito restaurants and the famous fresh sardines grilled on the bbq. The beach is fully equipped with sunbeds for hire (approx €6 per day per bed), watersports, and is perfect for sea bathing as it’s gently shelving so good for children.

The hotel itself has been renovated recently and the public areas are bright, fresh and trendy. This theme also continues to the dining room, which was unfortunately closed during our stay due to the pandemic, but usually it offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, buffet style. The pool area is great on the first floor, with views to the sea and sun loungers for guests use. What would have been really amazing is a roof top bar, but the planners didn’t have the foresight to build one!

The rooms are simple, but comfortable. We stayed in a superior sea view room which afforded amazing views to the sea and offered a sofa bed, so more room to stretch out. Usually the hotel offer tea and coffee facilities in the rooms, but not during our stay due to covid.

For a reasonably priced, clean, and amazingly located option, then this hotel ticks all the boxes. We’ve put a youtube video together for you to see it for yourself, so please click on the link below for our short video. The restaurants surrounding the hotel are first class, and we recommend Casa Beirut (Lebanese), Bahia Restaurante (Grill) and Carihuela Chica for Seafood, all first class with delicious food and great service.
